The Big Whale gives financial institutions the market intelligence, network, and platform to move with confidence in digital assets. Trusted by 150+ firms.

While The Big Whale devotes its "season" this week to Base, the layer 2 developed by Coinbase, we chose to talk to Jai Prasad, co-founder of Definitive, a platform that aims to simplify access to decentralised finance (DeFi) for both institutional and retail users.

"Our aim is to ensure that our users don't even realise they're using blockchain," he explains. "To do this, we manage everything that can be difficult for the user to take care of, such as switching from one chain to another, network fees or even token swaps," he stresses.

For its first steps, Definitive has deployed on Base, a blockchain that has no plans to have a governance token. "This strategy perfectly illustrates the desire to first attract developers to launch applications," says Jai Prasad, who joined Coinbase as Crypto Product Lead between April 2020 and July 2022.
