Manager Digital Assets
Gregory Genega is Manager, Digital Asset Management at KPMG US, based in Cleveland, Ohio, where he serves as a digital asset subject matter expert for the US audit practice in both internal and external-facing roles. He develops and supports data and technology solutions for auditing digital assets and blockchain/Web3 companies, works with the software development team to expand capabilities in KPMG's digital asset tools, manages the product roadmap, and documents new feature requirements. He also collaborates with third-party data providers to support new digital assets and blockchains through vendor APIs and performs data quality reviews over vendor data. He facilitates business development activities related to blockchain and Web3 companies, and contributes to research into new trends in digital assets and blockchain technology and their impact on audit and KPMG clients.
Within KPMG's Audit Innovation group, Genega has led efforts around configuring metaverse environments, Web3 applications, and blockchain node infrastructure. He scopes, develops, and assesses Web3 innovations against business and regulatory criteria, with activities spanning blockchain, cryptocurrency, decentralised finance, NFTs, and mixed reality. He has also supported advisory engagements for digital asset clients. Before joining KPMG in June 2022, he held manager-level roles at FirstEnergy, including Manager of IT System Operations from March 2017 to January 2022 and Manager of Field Mobility Systems from January to June 2022. He holds an MBA and studied at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. He has spoken publicly on blockchain concepts and was featured on a PBS special on cryptocurrency (Forum 360).
