There is to be a change at the head of the Association for the Development of Digital Assets (Adan), Europe's largest industry advocacy organisation.

According to our information, Faustine Fleuret is to step down as president and CEO of the association, which brings together more than 200 crypto-related companies. Her departure, announced at the end of September at an Adan board meeting, will take effect at the end of the year.

At the head of Adan since 2021, Faustine Fleuret was re-elected in 2023 with the aim of continuing to grow the association and integrate more and more traditional companies; recently, several major players such as Visa and Mastercard have joined Adan.

"I'm happy with the balance sheet I'm leaving behind. I think it's the right time for me to close this chapter. The association's roadmap for this year was agreed in September, so the transition will go smoothly," she told The Big Whale. For the time being, her next destination is not yet known.

His three years as president have also been marked by various internal fronts, with many members criticising her for not having managed to have enough influence during the negotiations around MiCA (Market in Crypto-Assets), the European text that aims to harmonise crypto regulations between the 27 member countries.

"Faustine Fleuret has helped the association grow and has led many battles, particularly on regulation. Her re-election also argues in favour of her record", however, explains one member of the association.

Another member who shares the same view of Adan's growth points out, however, that the timing may not be ideal: "With what is looming on regulation in Europe and the arrival of a new government, we would have preferred a little more stability, but that's just the way it is."

Also according to our information, one of Adan's two vice-presidents, Laurent Ovion (director of innovation at DLPK), will take over as interim president of the association. He will manage the presidency until the next elections in 2025.
