EXCLUSIVE. XAnge gets the green light from the AMF to invest in tokens

This is the first time that an investment company has obtained this authorisation in France. Other funds are expected to follow.

This is a first in France. According to our information, investment company XAnge has just obtained the green light from the Autorité des marchés financiers (AMF) to invest in crypto projects both in equity, i.e. shares, and also in... tokens.

Until now, funds based in France could not invest in tokens because of the lack of partners to do so; to invest, web3 funds need a custodian who will hold the funds. In this case, XAnge has teamed up with a French bank and a digital asset service provider (PSAN) to store its future tokens.

Other funds such as Cathay Ledger, which are also working on this type of pairing in France, are also in the process of obtaining authorisation.

The interest for a fund in recovering tokens from a project is twofold: firstly because it allows it to benefit from the financial performance of a project's token, both upwards and obviously downwards 😗. "There's better alignment with projects," confirms one investor. Then because holding tokens, in some projects, allows a fund to participate in its governance.
