Partner, Head of Hedge Fund Research, Head of Digital Assets Investing
Joe Marenda is Partner, Head of Hedge Fund Research, and Head of Digital Assets Investing at Cambridge Associates, based in Dallas. He oversees the discovery, diligence, and recommendation of hedge fund managers and chairs the firm's Hedge Fund Ratings Committee. In digital assets, he is responsible for finding and assessing venture and hedge funds focused on digital assets and blockchain-related strategies across all fund formats. He completed Cambridge Associates' first due diligence on a digital assets fund in 2017 and has worked with client investments in digital assets funds since 2018. He is a frequent speaker at industry conferences and contributes to firm research, including the paper Hedge Fund-ing the Pension Deficit.
Marenda joined Cambridge Associates in 2006 as a Managing Director and was named Partner in 2017. He has more than 25 years of experience in investment and alternative assets. Prior to Cambridge Associates, he worked for a hedge fund and a venture capital firm, and served as turnaround CEO at Keizon, K.K., a Tokyo-based internet company focused on the Japanese public markets. He holds an MBA from the University of Virginia, an MA in East Asian Studies from Yale University, and a BA in East Asian Languages and Cultures from the University of Southern California.
