Andy Smart

Andy Smart is Chief Product Officer at Monzo Bank, a position he was promoted to in March 2025. He joined Monzo in January 2016 as one of the company's first 20 employees, starting as a Senior iOS Engineer. Over his tenure he has held a series of progressively senior roles, including Engineering Manager, Director of Engineering, interim CTO, and the company's first VP of Engineering — in which he oversaw a team of around 200 engineers and managers across product areas including borrowing, payments, personal banking, and business banking subscriptions. From August 2022 until his promotion to CPO, he served as General Manager of Wealth, where he led the creation of instant access savings and investment products and oversaw the launch of Monzo Pensions.

Prior to Monzo, Smart was a Director at Rocket Town Ltd from April 2012 to April 2016, and co-founded Droplet, where he served as Head of Product from November 2011 to August 2013. Earlier in his career he was an iOS Engineer at Hailo. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science from Staffordshire University, graduating in 2009.
