Bert Staufenbiel

Bert Staufenbiel is Senior Manager Digital Transformation at KfW, based in Frankfurt, where his mandate covers the evaluation and implementation of new technologies and working methods within the Treasury department. He has focused on Distributed Ledger Technology (DLT) and blockchain since 2016, gaining direct project experience including co-leading the "ECP on Blockchain" initiative in 2017 in collaboration with Commerzbank and MEAG. More recently, he has been involved in work on Kryptowertpapiere (crypto securities) and contributed to a whitepaper on DLT-based capital markets in Germany and Europe. He also serves as a mentor in the DeFi Talents programme.

Before joining KfW in January 2010, Staufenbiel spent three years as a Portfolio Manager in the structured credit unit at Deka Investment GmbH, and prior to that worked for two years as an Associate Director at Fitch Ratings in the securitisation sector. He brings fifteen years of securitisation experience spanning ABS and ABCP across trading, project management, analysis, and cash flow modelling. He holds a Diplom Kaufmann in Business Administration from Universität Potsdam and a Master of Science in Risk Management and Regulation from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management, as well as completing the DeFi Talents programme at Frankfurt School's Blockchain Center in 2021–2022.
