Dr. Alexandra Hachmeister is Director General Digital Euro at Deutsche Bundesbank, a position she has held since February 2024. In this role she leads the newly established General Directorate for the Digital Euro. Prior to this appointment, she served at Deutsche Bundesbank from January 2022 as Director General for Economic Education, University of Applied Sciences and International Central Bank Dialogue.

Before joining Deutsche Bundesbank, Hachmeister spent over two decades at Deutsche Börse AG in Frankfurt. From 2019 to 2021 she was Managing Director for Market Data & Services. Between 2013 and 2019 she served as Chief Regulatory Officer and Head of Group Regulatory Strategy. Earlier positions at Deutsche Börse included Head of Corporate Office from 2010 to 2013, and Head of Boards and Committees / Corporate Responsibility from 2007 to 2010. She joined Deutsche Börse in 1999 and held various functions across Xetra Market Design Functionality, Systems Business Development, and Boards & Committees. She was awarded a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) from the European Business School in Oestrich-Winkel in 2007, having begun her doctoral studies in 2004. She completed her degree in International Business Administration at the European Business School between 1994 and 1999, with periods of study abroad at the American Graduate School of International Management in Phoenix, USA, and at the École Supérieure de Commerce de la Rochelle in France in 1996.
