Gautam Chhugani

Gautam Chhugani is Managing Director & Senior Analyst, Global Digital Assets at Bernstein, a position he has held since July 2022. In this role, he applies Bernstein's institutional equity research capabilities to global crypto and crypto equities coverage. His research focuses on digital assets and related companies, and he covers earnings calls for companies operating in adjacent sectors such as travel technology. He reports to Robert van Brugge, CEO of AB Bernstein Research Services.

Prior to his current mandate, Chhugani spent nearly seven years at AB Bernstein as Managing Director Senior Analyst covering India Financials and Fintech, from November 2015 to June 2022. Before joining Bernstein, he served as Director for South Asia Financial Services at British International Investment from October 2014 to November 2015, and as Vice President at Matrix Partners from August 2010 to September 2014, where he focused on venture investing in financials and fintech. Earlier in his career he worked at McKinsey & Company as an Engagement Manager in financial institutions, at JPMorgan Chase as an investment banking analyst, and at KPMG US in financial services audit. He holds a Post Graduate Management qualification from the Indian School of Business, attended from 2005 to 2006, and qualified as a Chartered Accountant through the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India between 1999 and 2003. His total professional experience spans approximately 22 years.
