Hendrik König

Hendrik König is Head of Digital Assets & AI Innovation Lab at Bankhaus Metzler, a position he has held since June 2025 within Metzler DX (MDX), the bank's newly established digital transformation department that reports directly to the Executive Board. He co-leads MDX alongside Shahrok Shedari, with Executive Board Member Mario Mattera holding direct responsibility for the unit. MDX consolidates the Digital Assets Office, Digitalmanufaktur, and process innovation functions under a single structure, with the stated aim of increasing efficiency and implementation speed of digital processes. König has publicly represented MDX at external events, including the Metzler Capital Markets Lounge, where he addressed blockchain as a structural development in market infrastructure and its relevance to the financial industry.

Prior to his current role, König served as Head of Digital Assets Office at Bankhaus Metzler from July 2023, a unit he co-established with Shedari in 2022. Before moving into digital assets, he spent fifteen years in Equity Strategy and Quantitative Research at Bankhaus Metzler, joining the bank in June 2008. Earlier in his career, he completed internships at Deka Investment in Frankfurt, PwC Deutschland in Hannover, and Drewermann, Mauritz & Kollegen. He holds a Master of Arts in Economics with a specialisation in Finance from the University of San Francisco, where he studied from 2006 to 2008.
