Huizhong Li

Huizhong Li is Head of Blockchain R&D at WeBank, a position he has held since October 2016. In this role, he leads R&D teams focused on blockchain architecture, cross-chain protocols, and privacy-preserving computation. He directed the open-source release of FISCO BCOS, a consortium blockchain platform, alongside WeCross, a cross-chain framework, and WeDPR, a privacy-preserving solution. These projects have received awards from the People's Bank of China, the China Payment & Clearing Association, the China Computer Federation (CCF), and the Shenzhen Municipal Government.

Li founded the FISCO BCOS open-source community, which has grown to include 5,000 enterprises, 100,000 developers, and over 500 industrial applications across finance, supply chain, and governance. His technical focus includes cryptographic principles, stablecoin mechanisms, and real-world asset tokenisation. He has served as principal investigator on R&D projects funded by China's Ministry of Science and Technology and co-authored standards covering blockchain, cross-chain, and privacy systems. He oversees blockchain research grants under the Tencent Rhino-Bird Fund and the WeBank Scholars Program, which has produced research in collaboration with Tsinghua University, HKUST, Sun Yat-sen University, and Xidian University. His team holds over 100 patents; he personally holds more than 10 granted patents and authored a first-author paper presented at SC23, the International Conference on High-Performance Computing. He serves as a Standing Committee member of CCF's Blockchain Committee and a member of the China Cryptographic Association's Blockchain Committee. He was named CCF Distinguished Speaker in 2020. Li studied at Tsinghua University.
