Hunter Merghart is COO, Digital Assets at Millennium, a position he has held since May 2022. In this role, he leads the firm's digital asset infrastructure strategy and is responsible for building out crypto infrastructure and making key hires.

Before that, he was Head of US at Bitstamp from April 2019 to June 2021, where he was responsible for retail and institutional go-to-market strategy, operations, legal, compliance, marketing, and business development. In 2018, he started the Coinbase Trading Desk as Head of Trading and was a founding team member of Coinbase's institutional business and New York City office. Earlier in his career, he was an equities trader at Barclays, RBC, and Credit Suisse.

Dan Berkovitz

Vice Chair External & Regulatory Affairs

Dan Berkovitz is Vice Chairman, External and Regulatory Affairs at Millennium Management LLC, a position he has held since January 2024. Prior to joining Millennium, Berkovitz served as General Counsel of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission from October 2021 to January 2023. Before that, he was a Commissioner of the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) from September 2018 to October 2021, nominated by President Donald Trump and unanimously confirmed by the Senate. He previously served as General Counsel of the CFTC from 2009 to 2013 under then-chairman Gary Gensler, during which he also served as the agency's deputy representative to the Financial Stability Oversight Council. Prior to those roles, he was a Partner and Co-Chair of the Futures and Derivatives practice at WilmerHale, a senior staff lawyer for the U.S. Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, and Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Department of Energy's Office of Environmental Management. Between his CFTC and Millennium roles, he founded Epictetus Strategic Consulting LLC, a strategic consulting firm focused on regulatory issues in commodity and financial markets. Berkovitz currently serves as a Lecturer in Law at Columbia University Law School, where he teaches derivatives regulation, and previously served as an Adjunct Professor at Georgetown University Law School and Vice-Chair of the American Bar Association Committee on Futures and Derivatives. He holds an A.B. in Physics from Princeton University and a J.D. from the University of California College of the Law, San Francisco.

Johann Stalars

MD - Fixed income, Credit and Digital assets trading platform owner

Johann Stalars is Team Lead - Murex Midas Development at Millennium, a position he has held since February 2019 and is based in New York. In this role he leads development work on the Murex Midas platform within the firm's front-office technology function. His LinkedIn headline describes him as an MD-level Front-Office Technology Leader focused on cross-asset capital markets platforms, platform ownership, architecture strategy, and trading systems modernization.

Stalars brings over 26 years of experience in capital markets technology, with a consistent focus on Murex implementations across asset classes. Prior to Millennium, he held two roles at Mizuho in Tokyo: BA Lead for a Murex implementation at Mizuho Securities from June 2017 to September 2018, followed by a four-month stint as Murex Front-Office Support Team Lead through February 2019. Before that, he spent ten months as a Senior Business Analyst at Regions Bank, working on a Murex MX.3 front-to-back cross-asset implementation. From September 2013 to June 2016, he served as Director and Senior System Analyst at Caxton Associates in New York, where he was a hands-on delivery manager for a Murex 3.1 SaaS cross-asset front-to-back implementation. He also founded XMile Consulting LLC in June 2016, where he remains owner. His academic background includes studies at Ecole Centrale de Lille.
