James Hodges is Managing Partner and Co-Founder at Amphibian Capital, a quantitative digital asset fund of funds he co-founded in November 2021. The firm allocates across more than 20 crypto funds, structured to generate returns in both bull and bear market conditions. Hodges co-founded the firm alongside Todd Bendell and Ivailo Jordanov. In 2024, Amphibian's BTC Alpha Fund delivered approximately +135% net in USD terms, outperforming Bitcoin by more than 14%, and the firm's ETH Alpha Fund won The Hedge Fund Journal's Digital Currency Performance Award 2025 for best performing fund of funds in the $100m–$200m AUM category for 2024 and for the two-year period ending December 2024.

Hodges has been involved in crypto since 2013. He ran the Net Finance conference in the early 2010s, observed the ICO period from early 2017, and by 2021 operated a Telegram group focused on crypto. He holds a finance degree from UC Berkeley and previously helped scale fintech company MX.com from 2 million to 28 million users. Beyond Amphibian Capital, Hodges co-founded Frequency, a network of leaders focused on conscious capitalism, and is co-founder of Dharma San Juan, as well as an investor and SPV lead at Lionheart. A stated portion of Amphibian's GP profits is directed toward regenerative initiatives spanning agriculture, land restoration, carbon capture, and biodiversity preservation. Hodges is based in Nosara, Costa Rica.
