Jessica Renier

Jessica Renier is Managing Director, Digital Finance at the Institute of International Finance, a role she has held since January 2022. In this position, her mandate covers data management and cloud computing, RiskTech and RegTech, artificial intelligence and machine learning, digital identity, digital assets and Central Bank Digital Currencies, distributed ledger technology, new entrants and competition, and cybersecurity. She also serves on the Innovation Panel at DIFC, the Market Risk Advisory Committee at the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission, the Advisory Board of The Digital Dollar Project, and as a member of the Bretton Woods Committee.

Before joining the IIF, Renier served as Program Associate Director at the White House Office of Management and Budget, where she oversaw a portfolio covering the Departments of Housing and Urban Development, Treasury, and Commerce, as well as the Small Business Administration. Prior to that, she served at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, first as Senior Advisor in the Office of the Under Secretary for Domestic Finance, leading policy development on financial technology and innovation with a focus on digital assets, smart contracts, and artificial intelligence, and subsequently as Senior Counselor for Terrorist Financing and Financial Crimes. Earlier in her career, she was a Manager at Deloitte Consulting, advising the banking and securities industry with a specialisation in blockchain technology and digital identity. She also held positions at the Federal Reserve Banks of New York and Dallas, J.P. Morgan Securities, and the Hoover Institution. Renier is an Officer in the U.S. Navy Reserve. She holds a B.A. in Economics, Communication, and Spanish from Trinity University, an M.B.A. from Stanford University's Graduate School of Business, and an M.A. in Defense and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College.
