Jorge Familiar

Jorge Familiar is Vice President and Treasurer and Pension Finance Administrator at the World Bank Group, a position he has held since January 1, 2026. As Vice President and Treasurer, he is responsible for the capital markets operations and annual funding programs of IBRD, IDA, and IFC. He leads a global team of capital markets professionals overseeing debt portfolio management, asset portfolios for World Bank Group institutions and over 90 external clients, and hedging and risk management transactions. He also leads Treasury's capacity building, advisory, capital market intermediation, and financial solutions services for clients. As Pension Finance Administrator, he supervises the investment and administration of the World Bank Group pension plans, with assets invested across fixed income, public and private equities, real estate, and alternatives. He also serves as a Trustee of the IFRS Foundation.

From 2010 through 2025, Familiar held multiple senior roles within the World Bank Group, including Vice President and Treasurer of the World Bank, Vice President for Finance and WBG Controller, Vice President for Latin America and the Caribbean—the first Latin American to lead the region in over 30 years—and Vice President and Corporate Secretary. Between 2008 and 2010, he served as Chief Executive Officer of Mexico's Instituto FONACOT, a public financial institution with over one million clients, where he helped restore the institution to profitability during the global financial crisis. Between 2004 and 2008, he served as Executive Director and Alternate Executive Director for the World Bank Group, representing Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, Nicaragua, Spain, and Venezuela at the Boards of Executive Directors of IBRD, IFC, IDA, and MIGA. He is a Mexican national and holds a master's degree in finance and a bachelor's degree in accounting from ITAM.
