Director of Innovation and Financial Markets Infrastructures
Audrey Metzger is Director of Innovation and Financial Markets Infrastructures at Banque de France, a position she has held since March 2025. In this role, she has spoken on the advancement of financial infrastructure with CBDCs, addressing themes of resilience and interoperability, including at a workshop focused on CBDC development powered by Giesecke + Devrient.
Metzger joined Banque de France in 2003 and has built her career entirely within the institution across a sequence of progressively senior roles. She worked for over eight years in the oversight of financial markets infrastructures, first as Deputy Head of the Financial Markets Infrastructures Oversight Service from October 2010 to March 2016, then as Head of the Financial Markets Infrastructures Studies Service from March 2016 to July 2018. She subsequently served as Deputy Director of Strategy from July 2018 to July 2022, before being appointed Director of Strategy, a position she held from July 2022 until her current appointment in March 2025. Early in her career at Banque de France she held positions in financial markets law and monetary policy implementation. She holds a degree from EDHEC business school and a master's degree in civil law from Paris Descartes University.
