Nate Beck

John Evans is Head of Business Development External Partnerships at Vanguard, a position he has held since April 2017, with a mandate spanning investment management business development, external partnerships, and fintech strategy. He leads Vanguard's Blockchain and Digital Asset strategy, including use case evaluation and industry partnership development aimed at improving investment performance, reducing costs, increasing client transparency, and improving capital market efficiency. He also leads the design and implementation of the Investment Management Group's cloud-based innovation and experimentation environments, and conducts technical evaluations of platforms and providers across Big Data, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, and Distributed Ledger Technology. He has additionally served as Head of Blockchain Strategy, leading Vanguard's Blockchain Center of Excellence, and has been identified externally as Head of Digital Asset Strategy.

Evans joined Vanguard in December 2012 as Senior Manager in the Investment Management Group, where he led the Global Investment Infrastructure Risk Team as part of IMG's Global Operational Risk Team. His responsibilities included technology stability, identity and access management, business continuity planning, third-party oversight, and global technology infrastructure assessments. Prior to Vanguard, he held leadership positions at Macquarie Bank in risk and technology. He has a background in information technology and software engineering. His academic affiliation is with Drexel University's LeBow College of Business.
