Head of Digital and Market Innovation
Peter Left is Head of Digital and Markets Innovation at Lloyds Banking Group, where he works to ensure regulated money and assets benefit from the latest technologies. His current focus spans digital assets, blockchain, and digital money, including work on on-chain settlement and digital securities. He has been publicly involved in Lloyds' engagement with the LSEG Digital Securities Depository, which is building a DLT-enabled solution to connect traditional and digital markets. He has also promoted Lloyds' work on blockchain-based international payments, enabling instant transfers where sender and receiver see the same information simultaneously.
Left has over 20 years of financial markets experience at Lloyds Banking Group. He began his career structuring and trading derivative solutions before moving to managing the balance sheet costs of derivatives. He subsequently ran Money Market and Repo Sales and Trading, then moved to Treasury where he managed Funding and Liquidity for the Ring-fenced Bank group. From that role he led thinking on Digital Money and Assets before taking his current position. He holds the CertBALM® certification, issued in January 2021 by the UK Asset and Liability Management Association. He also participated in a published Q&A on collateral optimisation for FTSE Global Markets.
