Peter Penzes

Peter Penzes is Head of Crypto-assets and Innovation Section at Národná banka Slovenska, a position he has held since September 2023. In this role, he leads the National Bank of Slovakia's policy, supervision, licensing, and enforcement functions in the crypto-assets sector. His mandate includes overseeing the implementation of the Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation, the Anti-Money Laundering Directive (AMLD), and the Transfer of Funds Regulation (TFR2). He maintains working relationships with the Ministry of Finance, industry associations, the European Banking Authority, the European Securities and Markets Authority, and other EU institutions on matters relating to crypto-assets and FinTech regulation.

Prior to his current role, Penzes served as Head of Payment Services and Innovations Section at the National Bank of Slovakia from March 2020 to September 2023, where he coordinated a team of 13 experts focused on payment services and the FinTech sector in Slovakia. His combined tenure at the institution spans over five years across these two roles, with a total professional career of over 21 years.
