Robert Joseph Dela Cruz

Robert Joseph Dela Cruz is Head of Digital Assets at UnionBank of the Philippines, a position he has held since October 2021 within the bank's Emerging Technology Business Group. His remit covers digital assets and cryptocurrency trading.

Prior to joining UnionBank, Dela Cruz spent ten years at BDO Unibank from January 2012 to January 2022, where he held the role of Foreign Exchange Trader on the proprietary trading desk. In that capacity, he managed the bank's proprietary USD/PHP position, provided pricing to local and foreign counterparties, executed medium to long-term management orders, and priced rates for BDO's branch network. He also worked on the commercial desk as a flows trader, handling the bank's commercial and corporate FX exposure, managing intraday third currency and G7 positions, and providing USD/PHP pricing to the marketing and sales team. Before moving to the trading desk, he served as Treasury Marketing Officer in FX Sales at BDO from August 2010 to December 2011, where he developed client relationships in the middle market segment across Northern Luzon and the Greater Manila Area. His background spans Treasury Sales, FX trading, portfolio management, and business process improvement, with a total industry experience of approximately 18 years.
