Steven Hu

Dr. Steven Hu is Managing Director, Head of Digital Assets, Global Markets at OCBC, a position he has held since August 2025. In this role, he leads the bank's digital assets strategy across cryptocurrencies, real-world asset tokenisation, stablecoins, and central bank digital currencies. He has been involved in Project Guardian with the Monetary Authority of Singapore, which included an Asset-Backed Security Token issuance, and Project Dynamo with the BIS Innovation Hub and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority, which explored DeFi tools for SME financing.

Prior to OCBC, Steven was Global Head of Digital Assets, Trade and Working Capital at Standard Chartered, a role he held from January 2022 to July 2025, and before that served as Global Blockchain Lead for Liquidity and Cash Management at HSBC from July 2018 to June 2021. Beyond his executive roles, he serves as a Professional Council Member at the Global Fintech Institute, a Founding Member of the Digital Assets Association, Co-Chair of the Digital Currency Sub-Committee at the Blockchain Association of Singapore, and an Advisory Council Member at Global Digital Finance. He has been a Panel Evaluator for MAS's Financial Sector Technology and Innovation Scheme since 2016. In 2024, The Asset named him "Innovation Leader of the Year"; in 2025, the Global Fintech Institute awarded him the designation of Chartered FinTech Fellow. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy and a Bachelor of Engineering from the National University of Singapore, holds multiple fintech and technology patents, and has published in academic journals, conferences, and books, including a book chapter on central bank digital currencies.
