Tony Buckle

Tony Buckle is Chief Underwriting Officer and Member of the Executive Board at DA Insured, a digital asset crime insurance provider offering specialist protection against fraud, cyber-attack, and operational risks for digital asset custodians and their clients. He joined DA Insured in January 2024 following a partnership announced between DA Insured and UWX, the insurance consulting firm he co-founded in January 2022. At DA Insured, he sits on the Executive Board alongside CEO Alistair Heggie, who founded the company to address the gap in quality crime cover for digital asset custody solutions.

Buckle brings 25 years of underwriting and portfolio leadership to the role, with experience spanning commercial insurance and reinsurance. Prior to co-founding UWX, he served as Chief Underwriting Officer Corporate and Board Member at Allianz Global Corporate & Specialty from June 2020 to December 2021. His background includes involvement in bringing fintech and big data into P&C and Specialty underwriting, as well as portfolio turnarounds, market entries and exits, and ESG mandates. He has lived and worked across the UK, Spain, Poland, South Africa, the US, and Switzerland, and is currently based in the Zürich metropolitan area. At UWX, where he holds the title of Partner and Co-Founder, the firm's stated focus is partnering with commercial Chief Underwriting Officers to address strategic challenges and bring underwriting and technical expertise to the insurtech space.
