Tyler Williams is Counselor to the Secretary for Digital Assets at the U.S. Department of the Treasury, a role he has held since January 2025. He serves as the principal advisor to Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent on blockchain and digital asset policy. His remit covers the Trump administration's digital asset strategy, stablecoin legislation and regulation, and the integration of blockchain technology into financial infrastructure. He has conducted over 400 stakeholder meetings as part of a listening effort informing Treasury's policy positions. He has spoken publicly on topics including stablecoin-based payments, the role of the U.S. dollar as the world's reserve currency, financial crime risk in digital asset markets, and the regulatory roadmap for crypto activities by banks and nonbank entities.

Concurrently, Williams serves as a Professorial Lecturer in Law at The George Washington University Law School, a position he has held since January 2024. Prior to joining Treasury, he was Managing Director and Global Head of Policy and Regulatory Counsel at Galaxy, a digital assets firm, from February 2022 to January 2025. Before that, he held a Senior Advisor role at FS Vector from September 2021 to February 2022. His earlier career includes positions as a financial services staffer in both the U.S. Senate and the House of Representatives. His total professional experience spans approximately 17 years.
