Peter Left

Head of Digital and Markets Innovation

Peter Left is Head of Digital and Markets Innovation at Lloyds Banking Group, where he works to ensure regulated money and assets benefit from the latest technologies. He has been publicly involved in Lloyds' blockchain and digital assets activity, including promoting the bank's work on instant international payments using blockchain infrastructure and supporting the development of on-chain settlement capability for the LSEG Digital Securities Depository, a DLT-enabled solution designed to connect traditional and digital markets.

Left has over 20 years of financial markets experience at Lloyds Banking Group, having begun his career structuring and trading derivative solutions. He subsequently moved to managing balance sheet costs of derivatives, then ran Money Market and Repo Sales and Trading before moving to Treasury, where he managed Funding and Liquidity for the Ring-fenced Bank group. From that position he led the bank's thinking on Digital Money and Assets, leading to his current role. He holds the CertBALM® certification from the UK Asset and Liability Management Association, issued in January 2021, and has contributed to industry publications including a Q&A on collateral optimisation for FTSE Global Markets.
